High-performance wearable airbag for equestrian riders
Protecting riders with technical textile and inflatable technology
FreeJump is a next-generation equestrian wearable airbag designed to deliver optimal protection to riders in the event of a fall. The device combines an ultra-performing airbag membrane with instant CO2 inflation from a replaceable gas cartridge.
The project goal: develop a safe, lightweight and comfortable product, integrating the full triggering technology inside an ergonomic, certifiable textile vest.
Our technical approach
From the airbag membrane to series production: a complete development, from concept to certification.
Airbag & impact absorption
A fail-safe protection system.
We developed a custom PU membrane, precisely defining the rider's protection zones and volumes. Inflation pressures and shock absorption levels were then validated through test campaigns, for maximum protection at the moment of the fall.
Gas generator
Performance, robustness and compactness combined.
Fine-tuning the gas generator concentrated all the project's challenges: inflation performance, optimisation of robustness and reliability, compliance with design constraints, and optimisation of the footprint for perfect integration into the vest.
Textile integration
Every constraint brought together in a single garment.
The textile integration reconciles the airbag constraints, the technical constraints and those of design and use. Material selection, pattern making, rider comfort: every detail was refined for a vest that is pleasant to wear, in training as in competition.
Testing & certification
Validated in our laboratory, certified by a notified body.
Shock absorption, inflation time, trigger force… every performance was first tested in-house in our fully equipped laboratory. The product then passed CE certification in a validation laboratory, according to the NF S72-800:2022 standard.
Industrialisation
From the idea to series production.
Validation of the manufacturing process, quality management, test plans: we supported the product from the idea through to production, guaranteeing in series the performance and reliability validated on the prototypes.

A project led end-to-end by AQ-Tech — from membrane design to industrialisation, through certification — resulting in a new-generation airbag without compromise, the highest-performing on the market, now worn by thousands of riders worldwide.
